It happens even to the best readers from time to time… you close the cover on the book you’re reading and discover, to your horror, that there’s nothing else to read. Either there’s nothing in the house, or nothing you’re in the mood for. Just, nothing that “clicks.” What do you do?? How do you get the reading wheels turning again?
I usually come online and read some fan-fiction or on fictionpress.com. Or I browse PaperBackSwap and search for some new books to order!!

Do you cheat and peek ahead at the end of your books? Or do you resolutely read in sequence, as the author intended?
Yes I do sometimes. I will get into a book and peak ahead a few chapters but I then come back and read through the whole book. So I do peak but I still read in the author’s sequence.

And, if you don’t peek, do you ever feel tempted?
When I don’t peak, I do feel tempted since I’m impatient and sometimes a story line can take forever.

If you could have just ONE more book from an author you love . . . a book that would be as good any of their best (while we’re dreaming) . . . something that would round out a series, or finish their last work, or just be something NEW . . . Who would the author be, and why? Jane Austen? Shakespeare? Laurie Colwin? Kurt Vonnegut?

I think I’d love another McKettrick family series book from Linda Lael Miller. She has been focusing on other series but this one is by far my favorite and I love reading about all of their lives and I can never get enough so definitely another McKettrick book!!

Do you read e-Books? Sometimes, I usually only read online stories or fan-fiction.

If so, how? On your computer, or a PDA?
On my computer since I don’t have a PDA

Or are you a paper purist? Why?
I really prefer paper books since I can take them places that my computer cannot go. I love sitting on the front porch reading especially so it’s impossible to lug my computer out there since I don’t have a laptop.. Yet!

Where DON’T you read?
In a moving car, bus, etc. Reading when I’m moving makes me very sick and nauseous and who wants to puke all over their books!?

Reading. In. Public. Do you do it? Why or why not?
Yes I do if I’m at a place where I have to wait. Why shouldn’t I? It’s not like my reading can disturb someone like for instance if I listened to my MP3 player and had the volume turned up like some people do. I love to read and can read anywhere as long as I’m not moving .. especially in a car.

Have you ever missed an important appointment because you have become so engrossed in a book you forgot the time or were up so late reading that you didn’t wake up in time? Been late to work because you couldn’t resist the temptation and left the house too late?
Yes, I so have done this. I usually do my reading really late at night/early morning before I fall asleep. Once I start reading, I have a hard time putting the book down without wanting to keep reading. I get too engrossed in books easily so that’s why it’s hard for me to stop reading and head to bed.

Just out of curiosity, as we enter into Passover and Easter season . . . have you ever read the Bible? Just the odd chapter or Psalm? The whole thing? (Or, almost the whole thing? It’s some heavy reading, of course, and those “begats” get kind of tedious.)
Yes I have read the bible .. not the whole thing but close to it.

If so, was it from religious motivation or from a literary perspective? Stuck with nothing else to read in a hotel room the Gideon’s have visited? Any combination?
It was for religious motivation and it was when I was exploring my faith.

If not, why not? Against your religious principles? Too boring? Just not interested? Something you’re planning on taking care of when you get marooned on a desert island?
n/a

And while we’re on the subject . . . what about the other great religious works out there? Are they more to your liking?
I haven’t really read anything else religious besides Chicken Soup For the Soul but I don’t think that counts here!

Where do you do most of your reading?
I do most of my reading either in my bed before I go to sleep every night or at the dining room table when no one else is either outside or doing something else so it’s peaceful.

Your favorite spot?
My favorite spot would definitely be outside in the front yard or the rocking chair on the front porch right before the sun goes down when it’s all nice and cool outside and peaceful.

Speaking of writing in books, what about writing the entire thing? Do you write? Aspire to write? Dream about writing?
I used to write non-stop but lately I haven’t wrote as much as I’d like to. I do aspire to write and dream of being published one day. I usually stick to romance and things that I can relate to. One of my upcoming stories that I have an idea for is this whole idea based on something that’s happened in my past but with a lot more added drama for book value. I hope to start putting some excerpts on my site soon.

If you do write, do you do it for yourself, or because you hope to be published? (Or because you ARE published?)
I write for my sanity. I know that sounds off the wall but writing relaxes me. I have a journal of one pagers where I was in a bad mood and just started writing whatever came to mind. Of course, none of those starters have been added to in forever but one day when I’m published maybe I can look at that journal and gain new story ideas. And yes, one day I do hope to be published.
