The Review:
I was very nervous when I rented this movie. First off, I thoroughly enjoyed Charlotte’s Web when I was younger. We read it in fourth grade and then watched the cartoon version of the movie. I did like this version but I still say the book was better. I was happy that they didn’t stray away from the book like most books then turned movies do. I thought all the actors did a great job and Steven was great personifying Templeton as was Julia Roberts with Charlotte.

Title: Happy Feet
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Brittany Murphy, and more.
Sypnosis: In the cold land of Antarctica, the Emperor Penguins each express their true love with a special heartsong of their own that expresses their very being. However, the misfit Mumble cannot sing, but instead has an extraordinary talent to tap dance with almost magical energy and expression. Nevertheless, the deeply conformist leadership of the colony fearfully blames the young penguin’s unorthodox ways for the lean fishing that threatens them all. Defiant in the face of unjust rejection, Mumble and his true friends set out to find the true cause of the famine. Through the motley crew’s trials and perils, Mumble learns many things about his frozen world, not the least of which being that his toe tapping talent may be what he needs to save his people. Thanks: IMDB
The Review:
Wow was it me or were those penguins really sexual?? Lol. I never thought an animated movie could get me sad but it just goes to show there are stuck up close-minded beings even in the world of penguins and wasn’t it kick-butt that the “weird” one saved the day! This movie was funny and worth the rental fee even though my mom bought it although I personally wouldn’t go that far. It was a good movie but not one I’d watch over and over.

Title: Glory Road
Starring: Josh Lucas, Emily Deschanel, Derek Luke, etc.
Sypnosis: 40 years ago, Don Haskins went on the recruiting trail to find the best talent in the land, black or white. 7 blacks and 5 whites made up the legendary 1965-66 Texas Western Miners. They were mocked and ridiculed for their showboating and flaunting of black players on the court. Yet, in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, Haskins and his Miners came together as a team united to reach the National Championship game against powerhouse Kentucky. Thanks: IMDB.
The Review:
What can I say, I’m on a Josh kick and have no fear, Poseidon is coming later today! This movie basically was able to shed some light on the difficulties of introducing black players to the world of basketball back in the day. It painted a realistic picture and for that, it’s sad that people acted that way but then again it was triumphant how of course in the end, the team won the championship. It was a great movie but not the best. Some parts of the movie had me definitely wishing I had a pillow and blanket which proves it was boring since I love basketball and Josh Lucas. Josh did a good job but the movie could’ve been a lot better.

Title: Sweet Home Alabama
Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, Patrick Dempsey, etc.
Sypnosis: New York fashion designer Melanie Carmichael suddenly finds herself engaged to the city’s most eligible bachelor. But Melanie’s past holds many secrets, including Jake, the redneck husband she married in high school, who refuses to divorce her. Bound and determined to end their contentious relationship once and for all, Melanie sneaks back home to Alabama to confront her past, only to discover that you can take the girl out of the South, but you can never take the South out of the girl. Thanks: IMDB.
The Review:
This movie is one of my favorite movies. I can really relate to how Melanie feels that once she moved to the city, she had to create this whole other personification to fit in and become someone important but soon realizes that no one can escape her past and after a while she wasn’t as embarrassed about it as she thought she was. No one can change where they come from. Reese and Josh both did wonderful jobs and who could not love Ethan Embry as Bobby Ray. I must say though my fave part would have to be the whole Civil War re-enactment and then at the end when Bobby Ray put the game pieces on the wedding cake. Very funny!! And if you watch the DVD, you’ll have a hard time deciding if you like the original or the optional ending included in the DVD Extras. I definitely recommend this DVD to every one!
